I shall call her: The Cutest Girl Alive

August 21st, 2011 § Leave a Comment

In the middle of July you would have found me in Cintsa, SA. We stayed at this awesome backpackers where we got our own house. I ate Indian AND Mexican food, relaxed on the beach, and watched Xhosa children sing in a concert so we could contribute money to their feeding scheme (yes, they actually called it a feeding scheme). The whole time people thought we were messing with them when we said our names were Ariana, Kelly, Ariel, and Kali. That is no joke.

Next up was my birthday. Just hung out with friends, some of which I rarely see anymore, so that was really nice. Who needs cake when you have lemon bars and brownies with coffee icing? We even peer-pressured Ariel into shaving her head. Yes! Shout out to my parents who got me a kindle for my birthday. Yay, reading is fun again!

But I think the best birthday present came a week later. My centre built me….

……wait for it…..

A SHOWER! That’s right people, I can now shower like a real American! All I need is a flat screen and I might just extend another year. To which my friends reply, “you know there are televisions inAmerica, right?” oh yeah.

It is starting to warm up so I can now walk around my house without shivering. But now I just spend most of my free time sitting behind my house facing the wall to stay warm in the sun and just wave to my neighbors who are doing the same. Yesterday me and some of my students were cleaning my yard when my neighbor’s daughter (my nickname for her is the cutest girl alive) came over with her little baby shovel to help. Isn’t she just the cutest girl alive?

Just for fun I thought I would make a list of the TV series I have watched over the past year while inLesotho:

Gilmore Girls (1-7)
Gossip Girls (1-3)
Entourage (1-6)
Glee (1-2)
30 Rock (1-4)
The Office (1-5)(twice)
Community (1-2)
Modern Family (1-2)
House (1-6)
Arrested Development (1-3)
CougarTown(1)
Parks and Recreation (1-2)
How I Met Your Mother (1-6)
Human Planet & Planet Earth
And many random episodes of: Late Night w Jimmy Fallon, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Tosh.0, Conan

Currently watching: EastBound & Down, Wonder Years & Its Always Sunny

Up Next: West Wing,Dawson’s Creek, Freaks and Geeks

I won’t list the movies I’ve watched, but know that it’s well over 100.

Random funny story. I was sitting up on Castle Rock reading Harry Potter when this man walks up to me (oh god, here it comes). He tells me he is a police man and asks if I’ve seen any boys because they like to come up here and smoke weed. I say I haven’t seen anyone so he walks off to go and find them. After a few minutes I decide I should move so I won’t be mistaken for someone smoking weed. As I walk to the other side of the cliff where I usually sit and know is safer, I see that very policeman with the two boys, all three smoking weed. Aikona.
