Pulchritude

This week has been super stressful. But I’m in good spirits because fall weather is creeping close and more so because I am meeting my parents in South Africa next weekend! I am so ready for this vacation.

Here is the story about why my week was so stressful. (side note: I want you all to understand how embarassed I am to admit this) I discovered that my house has a flea problem bordering on infestation. I have known that my cats have had fleas for the past month, but I this flea shampoo that I have used multiple time. Apparently this only made the flea go into survival mode and ferociously reproduce all up in my house. All of a sudden there were fleas all over my bedroom, the floor, my bed, etc. I honestly don’t know what I was thinking, I have never had pets before so I dont know why I thought it would be a good idea to gets cats in Africa. But to my defense, I was super paranoid about this sort of things so I never, NEVER, let my cats out side. So I know they got them while they were living with the volunteers whom I got them from. Anywho, although frustrating, it doesn’t change the fact that my house was jumping with fleas. So I changed my sheets, put powdered doom on every inch of my floors, paid someone to wash every article of clothing I own, and quarantined my couches in the scary room with no windows in my house. Lucky my hero, Kelly, came to my rescue and helped me deal with this hell. So rest easy knowing that I have kicked my cats outside and my house is officially flea-free. But my poor cats… they are so attached to me so they just cry and cry outside my door because I refuse to pet them or even go near them until I get some frontline in South Africa.

I think it is one of the worst possible scenarios to be in Peace Corps and to have a problem with your house. Your house is your safe place that is all about you, where you don’t have to compromise your culture. So when you dread going to your house it makes your life in Peace Corps miserable. That is how I would describe this past week, not stressful, but miserable.

Here are Pictures of my kittens back when I loved them.

Lastly, I have started going through the 500 GRE vocab flash cards I have, and I just want to say that words like pugilism and pulchritude enrage me.
