I am one lucky girl

October 5th, 2010 § Leave a Comment

My coworkers always ask me if I talk to my parents often. “Do you tell them that you are happy here?” Of course I am. “Yes, I can see that you are happy. Do you know how I can see? You are getting fatter and fatter everyday.” Seeing as how that is a complement here, I guess I can’t be offended. If only there were Olympic size swimming pools in Lesotho. I don’t really think I have gained that much weight (8lbs at most); I size it up to them just wanting to pay me a compliment. Besides, the man who made this comment could be 8 months pregnant. See, that’s what being nice sounds like in Lesotho.

Also, my second most hated bug…. horseflies. Now that spring is in the air, there is no shortage of spiders and horseflies. When I ask other volunteers about their spider problems, they don’t seem to have any. But I have come to the realization that they probably do have bugs. I am constantly searching for spiders in my house, so I think that other just don’t look for them, therefore think that they don’t exist. You should see me constantly searching my ceiling for spiders. Ignorance is bliss.

But despite torturously killing so many bugs over the past 4 months, I somehow have good karma. I lost my keys on Saturday and was shocked when I found out that someone actually turned them into the police station. Things like that make you believe that humans are innately good, huh?
