Castle Rock

The Ntlafatso compound is located right next to this giant rock formation that is called Castle Rock. This causes my house to see very little sun, keeping it super cold all day long. So whenever I’m hanging out in my house I am constantly wearing sweats, a scarf, and my UGG slippers. I only turn on my heater for about 2 hours before I go to bed. The other day I learned that if I don’t turn off my geyser (hot water heater) then it will just eat up my electricity. So now I will only turn it one once a day, usually after I get home from work at 4:30 so that I will have hot water to do my dishes and bath at night. Here electricity must be pre-paid. So there is a little box in my kitchen where I will enter the code to add the electricity units. My boss says that the Ministry will only pay for 500 units a month, which shouldn’t be a problem, so long as I turn off my geyser. It is so windy here today. I was planning on doing laundry but I don’t think my clothes would stay on the line. I guess this is normal, kind of like how there is a windy month during the spring in the States also. I finally received the package that my parents sent out in June. Apparently USPS didn’t send it out of the country until about a month. I was so happy to get my favorite sweaters, teddy bear, nail polish, and other awesome stuff like tuna and candy! Also my dad sent me a bunch of magazines on a USB drive for when I get bored. Oooh… and they put in some of those Starbucks Via instant coffee things. I completely forgot what good coffee tastes like. I’m used to drinking Ricoffy instant coffee with powdered creamer. Makes me miss Starbucks coffee, for real. I can’t help but think about what things will be like in 2 years. I will be turning 25 when I return to the states (weird). I can’t help but think about what all of my friends will be doing when I get back. A lot of you will have finished grad school, or will be in the middle of your careers, possibly will have moved to new cities. I don’t even want to think about how many of you will be getting married while I’m gone. Some of you will probably be doing the exact same thing as you were doing before I left. Hopefully I will figure out what I may want to do when I get back.
